    Cloned in Tianjin

    Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Being a photographer, I don’t often step out in front of the camera. But now and then (like when you come across a giant bronze horse drawn carriage) even I can’t resist. And sometimes… you take it one step further.

Created with the help of my good friend and accomplice, Michela. Who is the most awesomest tripod and  wireless trigger ever.

    Beijing Rotary Club CRAZYBOOTH!!

    Thursday, May 27th, 2010

I am seriously considering renaming this the EPIC BOOTH. Last Saturday, I shot at the Beijing Rotary Club’s 2010 Annual Charity Ball. I’m not sure who had more fun. The guests, or us photographers who shot the evening’s festivities. I had been discussing with EventPod founder, Joanna Riley about a unique approach to documenting events and this was chance to put my lens cap where my mouth is. Yup, none other than bringing the CRAZYBOOTH to one of Beijing’s biggest social events. No pressure.

I could not have possibly done this without all the other shooters from EventPod that night. We truly had a blast and brought the crazy to the party. It is one thing to suck up your courage and walk up to total strangers dressed to the nines and engage them in front of the lens, but another to get them to ham it up in front of all your photographic get-up. And BOY. You’ve never seen a party like this one. :)

LOVE their expressions. The gentleman on the left introduced himself as Krusty the Clown.

A little bit of Asian allure..

The sweetest couple ever. LOVE that dress.

Interact kids show us how to pose…. China style!!!!!

I love this girl. She kept coming back. I love people who love the camera.

    Beijing Rotary Club Charity Ball

    Hawt-diggity. What a week.

My amazing Lithuanian-photographer-friend, Paulius got my little head churning a few months ago. Sometimes you meet a person and it’s kismet. And when you share similar imaginations and artistic mediums, well… that’s like a nuclear explosion waiting to happen. Such is my friendship with Paulius, who never ceases to inspire and challenge my creative horizons. Not only have we since collaborated on more than one shoot, he also put the idea of shooting events in Beijing into my head.

Last Saturday, I was privileged to be one of the official photographers for Beijing’s Rotary Club Annual Ball. I shot with some awesome photographers and had an absolute blast. (Fillet mignon and a side of flash anyone?) Aaaand knowing me, I brought a little special somethin’ somethin’… But for now, behind the scenes shots from Mr. Chris Jakimiuk. (What a stud muffin. He’s already got his photos downloaded, processed, and emailed to photographers! I need me some of that mad efficiency.)

With Ms. Amy, who brings us all that west coast sunshine.

All the single ladies, all the single ladies (… and their various assortment of flash diffusers. Or tupperware, if you will.)

Me apparently too happy at the fillet mignon I’m about to devour. (FYI, my eyes aren’t closed. I’m just Asian :P )

More to come.. watch this space. :D
